Outings | Community Outings focus on helping refugees and immigrants get out, explore and connect. Outings include professional sporting events, hiking, museums, family dinners, sightseeing, career exploration days, cooking classes, etc.
About | Within just two years of operation, At Home Humanitarian has successfully provided and supported several community outings for our refugee and immigrant clients and their mentors.
Plans | In addition to our usual park days, career days, sports events, etc. we are also excited for our Welcome Weekend. Welcome Weekend is a 4-day, 3-night retreat held to build support for refugee families and individuals. Welcome Weekend will take place at OVY Retreat Center in San Gregorio, California, from October 18 to October 21, 2018. In one weekend, we will be able to serve and connect upwards of 80 newly-arrived individuals. This is a great opportunity, for both volunteers and those we serve, to enjoy the Bay Area outdoors, connect, learn, play and relax.
Needs | To this point, At Home Humanitarian, has facilitated all outings thanks to the work of volunteer administrators while working with limited funds. Managing outings is labor intensive and complicated, especially considering the demographic which we serve. In order to provide safe, positive and well-run outings, it is essential to have funding, quality event management tools, and a skilled program manager.
